Global Onshore Principles
ConocoPhillips is dedicated to helping meet the world’s growing energy needs in a safe, environmentally responsible and sustainable way. That means protecting people and communities, plants, wildlife, and our air and water. To accomplish this, we follow a set of principles that guides our decision making every day in all of our sites around the world.
Our Global Onshore Well Management Principles (3.4MB .pdf) apply throughout the lifecycle of a well, ranging, for example, from discussions with local communities during drilling site selection to the permanent closure of a depleted well and final restoration of the land. These principles reinforce ConocoPhillips’ core values of safety, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork. They incorporate established industry standards and are designed to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
We recognize there are environmental and social impacts associated with oil and natural gas exploration and production, and questions about such procedures as hydraulic fracturing. That’s why we are working to build strong, interactive relationships with landowners and local communities and provide information transparently. We’re also applying the latest advances in technology – developed through our own research as well as collaboration within the industry – to safely and responsibly develop new energy resources.
